Anna Madeleine Raupach is an Australian-based(Ngunnawal/Ngambri land) multidisciplinary artist, focusing on multimedia installations, AR and VR experiences, and mixed media artworks.
Anna Madeleine Raupach's works are research-based projects exploring the relationship between men and nature. She often works with large sets of scientific data and transforms them into a visualized or interactive experience. Some of her past work includes the exploration of weather data, plants, and astronomy. She hopes to bring awareness to social and environmental issues surrounding these topics.

In her collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Anna created an AR application that altered one's visual and aural experience while traveling within the botanic garden. Being a site-specific project, the application would register plant species that grew only in the garden, and display conservational information through alteration of the plant. For example, if the plant species will become rare in 50 years, the screen will lose color and glitch. This is a new way to interact with the environment, because one can learn more about each species without being bored by simple data or text.

Another project that interests me is Anna's interactions with dysfunctional satellites. She would use her antenna to receive analog information from satellites passing by her location, and using special software transform the information into digital images, which in some cases she would then print them out chemically. Because some datas' transmission was not completely clear, the resulting images contained noise and grain, which added visual flavor. Those images remind me of traditional printmaking, including riso printing and traditional Japanese woodblock prints, where each layer of color is applied separately. It is interesting to see similar outcomes resulting from a set of data transmitted from a satellite. I also did not know these data were public information, just like tuning into the radio.
What I really admire is Anna's versatility in her projects. Depending on the data and the nature of her projects, she would choose different mediums that best communicate the raw information to the audience. For example, for "Light Echoes", Anna's intuition was to make an interactive installation, but ultimately created a site-specific projection that was for viewing only. It takes a wide range of skillset to be able to choose freely between mediums.
